Don’t re-apply with the same information—IRCC notes that applying again without new information won’t change the decision.
If considering Federal Court, note strict filing windows (commonly 15 days if the matter arises in Canada, 60 days if outside Canada).

What is the Immigration Appeal Division (IAD)?
The IAD is part of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board and hears certain immigration appeals (including some sponsorship, removal order, and residency obligation appeals).
What is judicial review at the Federal Court?
It’s a court process to ask the Federal Court of Canada to review an immigration decision. It generally has a leave stage and a judicial review stage.
What are the deadlines for judicial review?
Federal Court guidance states you generally file within 15 days for matters arising in Canada or 60 days for matters arising outside Canada.
What is a Procedural Fairness Letter (PFL)?
A PFL is sent before a final decision when an officer has concerns and you’re given a chance to respond with information and evidence (for example, medical inadmissibility cases).
What is a reconsideration request?
For some refusals, people request IRCC to re-check a decision where an error may have occurred. It’s discretionary and not the same as an appeal or judicial review (availability depends on the case type).
Can I appeal every refusal?
No. Some refusals have no appeal right at IAD, and the appropriate path may be re-apply with stronger evidence or pursue Federal Court review where applicable.
